Another delay on the ebook HUI
I’ve made a decision not to release HUI until this month (Dec), so I must apologize for the delay.

I just think I need to do more, or basically push myself to do better with this important story line. Yes, at it’s core HUI is a romance. But there are other pressing issues that I must balance in addition to telling this tale of a black ballerina. To that end, I don’t know how I missed this article and the beautiful, inspiring cover:

Take a good look at their pointe shoes, because hues that are closer to the skin tone of a dancer of color are just one change ushered in by diverse students and performers in the world of ballet. I have a scene on the process of re-coloring a ballet shoe in the book.

Long Story Short
I need to get out of this funky mood (the footage from Ferguson and also the interviews of young people explaining why they’re upset are on repeat in my mind). So besides my rant post, I’m listing a few more things I’ve been doing.

Make Me Yours. African American divorcee falls for her Somali Bantu college professor. Spin off novella from the RUSH: Suicide Kings series This is a new cover I’d created for Rory (a character introduced in the ebook RUSH) who’s paired with an exotic dancer named Roxie. I wasn’t as comfortable with my original cover, so I created this one about a month ago. Click the image for an excerpt:

I’m still cleaning up a number of books (reviewing sentence structure, getting rid of overdone or purple prose, checking for typos). I have to oversee every aspect of self-pubbing and I re-write scenes like crazy. Sometimes I’ll write a scene several times over, only to cut the whole dang thing and use just a couple of sentences.

A Quiet Riot
First, congratulations to the Jackie Robinson West team for winning the 2014 US Little League Championship!!
2014 US Little League Champs! They’re so CUTE! They hail from Chicago, so go Chi-town! Next up is a formidable team from South Korea. All the teams should be proud of their sportsmanship, parental and fan support, and love for the game which was on full display.

RIOT – A black officer is caught between the community she serves and the thin blue line she must uphold. This will be a continuing serial on my blog, but it won’t be set in Ferguson. It’ll be in a fictional town where everyone believes race is no problem, until it is.
