Hmmm . . . it was faster to file a copyright and upload my Sampler on Scribd than Amazon.com
So, I’ve gotta go with Plan B. Click the cover and you’ll be re-directed to SCRIBD: **Update** Since its now live on Amazon I’ve taken it off Scribd in accordance with Amazon’s terms of service. Click the cover and it re-directs to the Amazon page:
A FREE PDF download is available for a limited time on SCRIBD. Just click the little “Share on social networks icon” to the right of the page:
**UPDATE** So the book is live on Amazon but the wait continues, because the nearest date to list it as free is tomorrow, Sept 30th.
Meet Dane Kovak, the anti-hero lead of the novella UNFORGETTABLE
Dane and Jenelle from UNFORGETTABLE
I was so excited when I saw this poster, because I thought WOLVES would be a weekly TV series starring Jason Momoa.
It’s not, but who knows? Perhaps it will be. Right now its a soon to be released film about werewolves.
I couldn’t resist doing some photo editing:
I love Werewolves, and I’ve been a fan ever since the old black and white classic with Lon Chaney Jr. started playing on television. Lon wasn’t a Werewolf though. He was a Wolf Man. But his angst over becoming a monster by the light of the full moon and hurting the woman he loved was way before the whole Interview with the Vampire and Twilight craze (No surprise that I was team Jacob from the get-go).
Here’s the GIF promo for the ongoing serial FERAL: A House of Tigris novel. I’m going to move the promo GIF to the right sidebar and link the first chapter once that’s done.
Over the next few weeks I’m going to try to make it easier for readers to navigate around this site and to look up books that may be of interest. I’m separating New Adult from Young Adult, and trying to get things into more order, especially since I’ve got a lot more books to release.
While I love contemporary romance, I also enjoy writing historicals and scifi. But I really enjoy putting romantic leads together and describing their journey to couplehood. With sequels it’s important (imho) to maintain the love affair but still tell an engrossing story. As I prepare to release Razher II among a few other sequels, I hope readers will enjoy the twists and turns I’ve taken with the characters and their various stories. I’ve added a short excerpt from The Player at the end of this post.
I’m also introducing another continuing serial, one that deals with big cats and the fight between several royal houses to take the throne. I’ll have a GIF up shortly and also the first chapter. For new readers, please understand that I use my book covers as promotional materials. The same thing applies to the free excerpts on this site and the excerpts that have more chapters which are listed on Amazon as Sneak Peeks. These are just a few ways I’ve found that help readers discover WSC books.
I’ve added another character to the continuing college serial The Men of Hilton Hall. I’m introducing Rae in the next chapter of TMOHH that I will have up this week:
Now for the new offerings. I’ve been working on my digital editing skills in order to have covers that are a bit more stylish as well as sexier:
First an update on Aaliyah’s story from the sequel to RUSH.
I’ve found a stock image for the character of Amelle, though I don’t have my title for the book truly set yet. Right now I’m just calling it RUSH 2:
Aaliyah made a number of decisions in book one that affected her family and their standing in the Somali Bantu community. But more important, she strayed from her religion. Book two explores what the repercussions are and how she and Aiden deal with them. Aiden has questions and concerns regarding how close Aaliyah and Turk became while he was away, as Turk’s presence is still felt even though he’s nowhere to be found. That’s all I’ll reveal for now, but the Suicide Kings re-form with a surprising new leader.
Also nearing a release date:
The following New Adult Ebook Excerpts are free for downloading this weekend (Saturday May 10th and Sunday May 11th).
Here’s your chance to read about the volatile bad boy Derek Keane from the NA contemporary The Stone Boy:
JUKEBOX has The Burr Brothers, Eli and Johnny, two rockabilly teens who switch musical genres to perform as soul men, and along with the female classmate they both love, all three make history in the process.
I’m hunkering down to finish up checking my OMG (Outlaw Biker Gang) facts in RUSH.
This book was supposed to be out weeks ago,but unfortunately, life interrupted. I’m also finishing up the storyline twists in RAZHER, Rise of the Gargoyles
Oh how I love the look of black and white photos. I even love old black and white movies.
Here’s a GIF I created that (hopefully) shows what’s so special and rich about black and white pics:
Here’s the finished ad (minus the dissolve):
Another GIF I created (link is now active):
The male photos are on the book covers I’ve created:
I’m busy editing and working on promotional GIFS for a number of ebooks, like RAZHER, Rise of the Gargoyles, RUSH, Gaijin and the upcoming serial The Men of Hilton Hall.
More GIFs will be up shortly!
Over at RED, I’m experimenting with a new photo gallery plugin, in order to show more multicultural books from various authors on the site. I think I’ll go with multiple sliding galleries, because that way more books can be highlighted.
After I put up the post EACH ONE, REACH ONE I decided there was more I needed to do, besides putting links in the sidebar of this site.
So on this day remembering Martin Luther King Jr, I’m setting up a new site, one that I hope will become a one stop shop if a reader (or author) wants to peruse books with protagonists of color in all genres. The books won’t be sold on the site, but there will be links directing buyers and others to the websites where an author’s work can be purchased. I’m working on the new site now, on another browser. If you’d like to take a peek at what I’ve got so far, the site is
This is how I’m trying to set it up (columns, video set up, featured books slider)
Right now I mainly have place holders up. My hope is simply to become an asset for those without advertising budgets, or those new to self publishing, or those who aren’t listed on the front page of Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Maybe I can compile a decent database of authors and their novels. And I’ll have GIFs and book trailers up there also.
I’d also like to promote sites that review multicultural works, and those that interview authors of color. Hopefully, the site will be fully functional by February
First, here’s the link to a three chapter excerpt from the upcoming ebook RAZHER, Rise of the Gargoyles excerpt
I love men, I cannot lie. I find them fascinating, at times infuriating and oh so SEXY. So while I’ve got ebooks pairing African American heroines with white males, rest assured that I haven’t forgotten men of color. There are more ebooks coming out with male protags of Asian, African, African American, Hispanic and First Nations heritage. I’m also starting a series based on five males who share a dorm (suite) in college, but I think it will be in serial form, and housed on this site for the first few chapters.
My goal is to tie in characters from other books who pop up every now and then. I’m also still editing away, because a writer’s work is never done, especially if you write and edit your own books (like I do). I’m also working on promos so that I lessen the eye strain of editing text only, and here’s a peek at a few of them:
I’m very grateful to all the readers who purchase my ebooks, and I have noticed readers buying from other countries.
One of my many goals in writing and self publishing concerns having a lead female character from outside of the United States. For 2014, the Caribbean Islands represented in each of the three books below are:
Love and Baseball – Barbados
The Player – Trinidad
Game. Set. Love. – Jamaica
In addition, I have ebooks that didn’t come out last year, but I hope to have out in early 2014 with female lead characters from other parts of the world:
While the Scifi Sampler is live, the free download won’t kick in until tomorrow, Dec 19th. The excerpts will be free from the 19th until Saturday, Dec 21st.
This weekend I hope to have up multi-chapter excerpts from Razher, Rise of the Gargoyles, Gaijin and RUSH on Amazon.com
It’s Download December, where readers can get early access to some of the new books coming out from wikkid.sexy.cool.com
Starting this week, multiple chapter excerpts will be available to download on Amazon. The excerpts will be in a variety of genres, from scifi, military, suspense, new adult and commercial fiction (with a romance and diverse characters at the core of each story)
A motorcycle gang protecting their territory
Refugees attempting to revitalize a run-down area
A deranged man determined to keep his loved ones imprisoned
It all begins and ends in a RUSH
I’ve finally gotten closer to a cover I like:
I won’t be able to publish Razher, Rise of the Gargoyles just yet. Since I didn’t make my deadline I’m releasing a free sneak peek while I work on some plot points in the book. A sequel always has more riding on it, and I want to get things right. I also need to finalize which cover to use, because I’ve created a number of them.
Just saw the cover for JR Ward’s new BDB novel:
Just for the fun of it, I decided to bring Wrath’s hair out a bit more
Well, back to my own PN Romance books. I’ve completed another Havoc promo:
TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT!
Get a five chapter excerpt of The Stone Boy as a free download Monday (11/18) thru Wednesday (11/20).
If you enjoy the free preview, then you may want to read The Stone Boy New Adult novel. See how the love story between Nicole and Derek began before the sequel, The Stone Hero is released:
This free promo is coupled with a sneak peek of FURIES, a Paranormal Romance.
I love creating covers and promos. I learned Photoshop (my daughter was so patient with me ) but I also work with Paint.net. The covers serve as both ads for upcoming releases, and to showcase the beauty and variety among of women of color.
The Stone Hero is the sequel to The Stone Boy. All the characters from The Stone Boy are back, and it gives me a chance to introduce a deaf Afro-Cuban teen named Trayvon Wilfredo Lima who has his own book:
Now, here’s a scene from Razher, Rise of the Gargoyles:
Murder. Betrayal. Fang envy. Even though the sequel to Razher has been pushed back until November, part two is on its way.
I’ll get a few excerpts up as soon as I can. There will also be an excerpt of the New Adult romantic suspense novella Before I Let Go up shortly:
Still tweaking The Stone Boy. I didn’t get a chance to devote as much time to editing as I’d wanted. My 9 to 5 was quite hectic this week.
More promos for upcoming books:
This BUZZFEED article is a must read! Asian men need more representation, not just on film, but in books:
BOYS ‘N LOVE AND MAGIC has Malia Toussaint paired with Corey Yune.
In VALKYRIE JONES, Valencia Perez is paired with Kai Ioki:
Download a free eight chapter excerpt from Confessions of a Shapeshifter this
Saturday Sunday, August 10th August 11th and Monday, August 12th.
A Victorian Era Vampire and a newly turned Werewolf search for the kidnapped Djinn they both love, in Confessions of a Shapeshifter
From the excerpt:
Devastatingly handsome, sexy as hell. A chick magnet, and he was hanging out at her restaurant. Thank you God. But he was scowling at her when he spoke. “Where were you yesterday?”
She wanted to say Excuse me? That’s none of your damn business. But she didn’t. That kind of courage wasn’t in her. Plus she needed this job. So she just smiled and shrugged her shoulders, pulling out her waitress pad to take his order.
He’d seen the flash of hurt in her eyes when he questioned her, so Julian’s tone was softer this time. “I was worried about you, so I made inquiries. They said you took the day off. Is everything well at home?”
What kind of answer was that? Julian sat upright, a huffy expression now on his face. He toyed with the eating ware that had been placed on the table. It was stainless steel, not the pure silver he was used to.
“Not to your liking M’lord?” she asked, smiling even broader at his pained expression.
Her god awful cockney accent, even in jest produced a deeper frown this time. “Aria, really, you must learn-” he began, as if about to give a student a stern lecture. He stopped in mid-sentence, realizing he was doing it again. Sounding too authoritarian. He shifted in his chair and his voice dropped to a whisper. “I’ll…I’ll just have coffee please. Espresso.”
Okay. Cool. She could work with that. Except… “Don’t you ever get hungry? I mean, you sit here all day but you never order any food.”
“Would you like me to?”
