    So Thankful

This is just a post giving thanks and also one of reflection.

I’m so thankful that I got to spend time with my mom before she passed, and also how our family came together. I realize this is the next page in the chapter of life, where elder care and also helping those I love with disabilities will need more focus. I pray that I’m able to do even half of what my mom did.

Some of the spin-offs from the RUSH series are turning out to be novellas, while others have been moved up for ebook release. It all started with Somali Bantu refugee Aaliyah and the outlaw biker Aiden:

    Thirsty

I made more promos for The Saint of BOYStown, a New Adult IR (Interracial romance).

There’s a lot going on in this book. There’s race, romance, economic disparity (and not just on the black folk side) That’s all I’ll reveal for now.

    Excerpt:

Go away Tanner. Go far, far, away. He doesn’t. Instead of pulling out a chair like a normal person would, he leapfrogs over the top of the backrest and plops down next to me, with a tray full of food I’d never eat. I’m allergic to vegetables. I won’t eat rice with gravy, but I will snack on rice with butter. Tanner quizzes me on the lack of eats on my tray, to which I repeat that I’m veggie intolerant.

His eyelashes flutter downward and his fingers steeple as he says grace. There are teachers and other students watching, just as shocked as I am at Tanner’s transformation. When he stops giving thanks he starts in with questioning me. “No, really? You really can’t eat vegetables?” he asks, mixing everything on his plate together before shoveling the stuff in his mouth. It’s such a Cody-like move. I give him a nod of assurance that my lie is the truth. I also can’t stop gawking at all the different foods he’s mixed together.

One side of his face balloons as he tries to eat and talk. “Yeah, Cody convinced me and Justin to eat this way.”

    Yasssss . . . March Madness

March Madness is back! I’ll have reduced priced ebooks and sneak peeks at the new ones that will be released. I write because I love crafting stories. What I’m terrible at is sticking to a release date, because all of a sudden a new scene will pop into my head, or I’ll need to do another edit. So please believe me when I say, thanks to all you readers who’ve been patient. The Queen of Comedy and other longer works are a priority, and I’m diligently working on making them the best tales that I can.

Reinventing Lisa promo with three scenes

    Excerpt:

Silence greeted Seth’s ears as fear flooded his body. Moonlight made it easier to realize Lisa wasn’t taking in a midnight snack. The kitchen was just as spotless as they’d left it. In the stillness he grew aware of steady breathing, and the sense that he was being watched. Seth rotated in the direction of the hallway that connected several first floor rooms, stopping to squint his eyes and focus on the living room.

She was sitting in the rocking chair with a duvet covering her.

    “Lisa?”

Instead of a response, Lisa drew her knees up to her chin. Seth called out to her again. “Lisa? What’s wrong?”

“I-I saw you just like that, the first day I was here.”

“Like what?” Each footstep brought him closer to her.

    “Naked.”

Seth dropped his head. Placing one bare foot behind the other, he reversed course. “And it didn’t scare you off?”

“No.” Her next words were muffled by the duvet. “I couldn’t take my eyes off you.”

Additional Excerpt from The Gorgeous Nothings:

“This isn’t happening,” he muttered, pacing around the room. “Somebody’s gonna walk in on us, like your dad.”

I giggled, loving how unnerved he was about the whole thing. “If it bothers you that much then just lock the door.”

“No.” With a shaky finger he pointed to my pants on the floor. “You-you put your jeans back on.”

“Only if you look at me. And I mean really look at me, Stone.”

He shook his head. I’d never seen his eyes that big before. They were wide and wild, like some animal trapped in a house, a poor creature filled with anxiety because they don’t know how to escape. It wasn’t funny anymore, so I reached for my jeans. “Never mind, this was stupid.” How pathetic was I?

“Bree, wait. You have a beautiful body.”

    Female Genital Mutilation

Nyesha Adu is an African woman living and working in Tokyo.

Pictured: Takeshi and Nyesha, from the erotic ebook SENSEI Click any photo to read a Chapter One Excerpt

In order to tell her story  I had to do heavy research (something that I do for most of my books). This book contains mature subject matter, like Female Genital Mutilation. It deals with how the main heroine copes with what has been done to her body. It also deals with the alienation and isolation of a thirty-something Japanese businessman who’s still a virgin. I touch on the sex trade and the changing economic status and cultural norms that women are facing in Japan. So while I do have books coming out with sweet love stories, this ain’t one of them. But it is a love story. And its a slow build erotic romance.

    Excerpt:

She was in bed with him, and Takeshi couldn’t believe it. Her thighs cradled his. Her arm was loosely draped over his right shoulder. He didn’t dare move. Didn’t dream of breathing. As the realization dawned on him that this wasn’t a dream, there was a smile on his face as wide as a canyon.

“I know you’re awake.” There was drowsiness in her voice, and something else he couldn’t pinpoint. “I know you’re awake, because I’ve been playing with your body.”

He stiffened at her revelation. “I would like to be conscious when you do that.”

“I didn’t do much. I just kissed along your back and I rubbed your-”
