Just a few more promos I’ve worked on with the Gargoyle Karnage and his lady love, Pagan.
Just a few more promos I’ve worked on with the Gargoyle Karnage and his lady love, Pagan.
His name is Karnage Xian, brother of cutie-pie Havoc Xian (from the previously released ebook RAZHER):
Karnage is also part of the Nightstalkers:
I made more promos for The Saint of BOYStown, a New Adult IR (Interracial romance).
Here’s a scene from the novel:
There’s a lot going on in this book. There’s race, romance, economic disparity (and not just on the black folk side) That’s all I’ll reveal for now.
Go away Tanner. Go far, far, away. He doesn’t. Instead of pulling out a chair like a normal person would, he leapfrogs over the top of the backrest and plops down next to me, with a tray full of food I’d never eat. I’m allergic to vegetables. I won’t eat rice with gravy, but I will snack on rice with butter. Tanner quizzes me on the lack of eats on my tray, to which I repeat that I’m veggie intolerant.
His eyelashes flutter downward and his fingers steeple as he says grace. There are teachers and other students watching, just as shocked as I am at Tanner’s transformation. When he stops giving thanks he starts in with questioning me. “No, really? You really can’t eat vegetables?” he asks, mixing everything on his plate together before shoveling the stuff in his mouth. It’s such a Cody-like move. I give him a nod of assurance that my lie is the truth. I also can’t stop gawking at all the different foods he’s mixed together.
One side of his face balloons as he tries to eat and talk. “Yeah, Cody convinced me and Justin to eat this way.”
I’m both shocked and truly saddened by the news of Chris Cornell’s death.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in their time of grief.
In tribute to the power and musical artistry of Chris Cornell, here’s a video of his cover of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”
The finale of Into The Badlands is this Sunday, May 21st
Will Sonny and Veil finally reunite? Or will Quinn end up raising baby Henry?
At least ITBL will have 16 episodes next year. The Wuxia fighting on this show is fantastic. Love Daniel Wu as the stoic hero, a killer who’s faithful to the woman he loves, Veil. AMBW yeah!!!!!!
Barry and Iris are still going strong, or are they? This season the show gave us Savitar (Emo Barry) who’s crazy with a capital C. Savitar has vowed to kill Iris, and that’s all I’ll reveal in this post.
I’m just mentioning the very short lived Kara had a crush on Jimmy Olsen. When the show was moved to the CW, that romance was nixed. I mainly watch the show for the Martian Manhunter scenes now.
Gone, but not forgotten:
OUTSIDERS (canceled by WGN America)
I hate getting sick. For the past two years bronchitis has kicked my ass and then some.
I’ve got a lot of catching up to do, so my apologies for the delays. Time to get back to work.
His eyes darted from hers. “You are a woman who knows about men. Is this not so?”
“Er . . . yes, it is.”
“I want to know, I need to learn about women. How to-how to make them happy. How to pleasure them.”
She sat down on a white leather lounger that was so buttery soft her rear end bobbed in delight. Oh yes, she could get used to this. No more sleeping or walking across a cold floor, not when he’d revealed that all the floors were electronically heated. Her smile radiated warmth at the thought. “Okay, what are you into?”
Takeshi cocked his head. “What into?”
“What do you like, what do you fantasize about, what would you like to do to me right now?”
He seemed to be taken aback at her directness. After an excruciatingly long silence, he blurted, “To have you pose, like in art class. I-I would like to draw you without your clothes on.”
Her face registered a whole lot of Really? Really dude? That’s what you wanna do? Draw me instead of fuck me? Nyesha sighed as she stood up, inwardly vowing that no matter what, his lounger would be leaving with her after all this was over. “Will you unzip me?”
He snapped to attention, quickly coming to her aid as she turned around. The zipper came down slowly, the air cool on her back as more of her skin was exposed. With a flick of her hand one shoulder was freed, then the other until the dress slithered down her waist. Before he could step back, in a husky voice she ordered him to touch her breasts. “Go ahead and feel them. It’s something that turns most women on.”
This is a post to thank all those who’ve downloaded the free excerpt of The Saint of BOYStown on Amazon.com. When I created the character of Nathalie Childress, I knew she was someone special. I start the book off with Nat in the first chapter, because that’s how strong the “voice” of the character is. I’ve included another excerpt below that I think readers will enjoy. It goes more into Tanner and Nathalie’s budding romance in the face of tragedy.
“Do you always come up here to talk to yourself?” I ask him.
“Yeah, most times I do. It makes me feel . . . uh, closer.”
I look around. We’re the only two people for miles. “Closer to who?”
Tanner shrugs. “Ah, you know.”
“No I don’t”
“Did you do something different? Your face-”
Oh crap. My little underwater stunt took off all my carefully placed dirt and grime. My face is clean, so he’s able to get a good look at me, especially since the sun is in my eyes. I try to play it off. “I think I’m coming down with something. I think I’ve got a fever.” I muster up a half-hearted cough. “You should stay back. I don’t wanna spread my germs.”
“It’s okay.” He walks closer to the edge and starts talking, almost as if I’m not even there. “I converse with God up here. I do it a lot since the accident. I’m guessing it was God who told me not to get in the car with Cody. I’ve been trying to get God to talk to me again, to answer some questions I have.” This whole conversation is mighty uncomfortable, especially for me, but I don’t interrupt him. “My therapist says it’s called survivor’s guilt.” He does a little shrug, as if it’s no biggie.
“I’ve heard of that,” I add, wishing he’d stop glancing my way, partly because he’s on the edge of a freakin’ mountain. “Wonder why Mason hasn’t experienced what you have?”
I’m putting up a Sneak Peek of The Saint of BOYStown on Amazon.com
In 2015 I put up excerpts on this site and Scribd. What I didn’t do is release it. But I’ve got a digital trail dating back two years.
The lead character is a teen female and bi-racial, looks more like the African American side of her family, her brother is in a coma due to a car accident, and she’s slowly falling for her brother’s friend. Oh, and she’s really grieving because she’s having a hard time dealing with what her brother, who was treated like an idol at her school, has done.
Somehow I managed to hit on all of the above in the first chapter.
I say all this, because I’ve decided to make The Saint of BOYStown one of my March Madness picks.
Or you can click any of three images below and read the same excerpt via Scribd:
The next book in this series features Justin Ybarra:
The Trinidad and Tobago Carnival is next Monday and Tuesday. In honor of this festival, I’m lowering the price of The Player to 99 cents.
Excerpt from The Player:
“I wish I could’ve seen you dance live back then.” He was sprawled on her bed with one of his long legs cocked up while the other was diagonal, his heel along the mattress edge. The way his legs were divided gave her a clear view of what lay heavy and thick between his legs.
The way his eyes got that dreamy look in them, like he was imagining a number of things with her in that outfit gave Harlow an idea. “Close your eyes. Don’t open them until I tell you,” she ordered. “You’ve been a very good boy so I think you deserve a reward.”
“I hope it’s what I think it is. But I may be wrong. Are you gonna do it? Are you gonna-”

Can a video vixen find happiness with a farm hand?
I’ll be back to link this promo with the excerpt, but Reinventing Lisa is part of a series of books that are short and sweet.
The Emissary, Ride or Die, SENSEI and The Takedown are part of this grouping.
Of course I’ve got much longer works like The Queen of Comedy and IVY LEAGUE ready for release, but until then, I’ll have a variety of books featuring diverse couples coming out.
I’ll be updating this post throughout the day and linking more excerpts.
If you’d like to read about an African American female who proudly proclaims her bisexuality, then please pick up the erotic romance novella IVY LEAGUE this
Want to read an exciting, erotic space adventure featuring a black woman as the lead character?
Then the fast paced The Emissary may be the scifi novella for you:
There, I said it. My family already knows and they’re fine with it, because they love Nate and Nick Diaz too.
That’s why I took a little bit of Nate’s “I don’t give a fuck, just gimme my check” personality for the lead male in this upcoming novella:
The TAKEDOWN – the rocky romance of two MMA fighters who come up against an opponent neither one of them are prepared for.
The Takedown is a book that features several other characters from ebooks I’ve written, like Derek and Nicole from The Stone Boy, Ethan and Torii from At Last, among others. I’ll have a free extended excerpt up on Amazon as my
March Madness final four.
I’ve got a number of other books that I’d readying for release, so I’m not able to blog as often as I’d like until I get these other stories published that are much longer reads.
Excerpt from The Takedown:
Didn’t I blow your mind this time . . .
Sly kept playing with my hand. “Why’d you start calling yourself ‘The Bastard?’ ”
“I didn’t chose it. It’s what I’ve been called ever since I was a kid.” I changed my voice to imitate Jelly’s. “Killian, you little fookin’ bastard.”
“Oh, so if you say it, then it can’t hurt you, huh? So you’ve turned the tables and made it into a badge of honor.” That was the thing about Sly. She was wise beyond her years, especially when she added, “But that’s a shitty label to stick on a kid. If you don’t mind I’m not gonna call you that.”
“You might end up using it,” I mumbled, refusing to meet her eyes.
“Not unless you’re planning on doing something to make me call you that. Is that what you’re saying?
“I’ve been told the name suits me.”
“So you’ve decided to live up to it? Or, excuse me, are you’re gonna live down to acting like a bastard?”
I rubbed at my temples. This conversation was starting to give me a headache. “Are we gonna fuck again or not?” After her sharp intake of breath I expected to hear a ton of profanity directed my way. Instead she just stared at me real hard, and I mean really hard. I blinked first. “Ay, you know I didn’t mean for it to come out that way.”
“I think you already know my answer.”
“Aw come on, Sly.”
“No, you come on. I thought you were ready for me, but you’re not.” She slipped out of bed, sitting on the edge of the mattress with her back to me. All it did was give me a real good look at her fine brown apple bottom. “It’s cool though,” she sniffed, as if last night never happened. “I won’t go storming off like some little bitch. I’m gonna use your bathroom and then I’ll take a taxi home.”
“What if I don’t want you to go?”
What I’m up to: Finishing a number of books for release.
The edited stock photos below originally featured white couples. I’m going to post these now newly made IR couples to my WSC Romance Image Gallery
More to come . . .
I’ve got another new release, this time in the paranormal genre.
First though, Wikkid.Sexy.Cool books is now on Instagram. So I worked on a new promo for HUI that features the female lead, Imani:
Paranormal for the people means stories that not only feature a variety of creatures who go bump in the night, but also inclusiveness and diversity in the world building when those beings are in human form.
From today until Tuesday, there’s a free download on Amazon of HUI. Six chapters are available at no cost. The exact dates are January 3rd, 4th and 5th.
If you enjoy the free excerpt, then the entire novel is available for sale on Amazon. Kindle Unlimited subscribers get to read for free.
So, this year I’ve added adult fiction to my YA, New Adult and YA paranormal bookshelf.
Next up will be a greater focus on my Afro-futurism works, like:
Weak and disoriented as he finally slid into her, all Imani could manage was a feeble caress along his arm. It wasn’t fair. She was so crazy about him.
Sensing her despair, his movements slowed. “What’s wrong?”
How could she put it into words what she didn’t understand? “Why are you doing this . . . like this-”
The bed stopped creaking. She felt his eyes on her, trying to read her expression. “Don’t you want me to love you?”
He probably didn’t realize how loaded that question was. “I do. I want you to love – to make love to me.”
After getting the go-ahead, instead of measured thrusts, Hui acted on pure unbridled lust. Now he was simply fucking her, rough and without any inhibition. This was brutal, take no prisoner’s sex. The kind that played on the Discovery Channel, where the male lion mounted the female and just went at it, until his roar of pleasure echoed from miles around. The female? Well, unlike Imani, she didn’t have much choice. When things slowed down to hard grind, the air escaping and gathering in Imani’s lungs blasted hot as a furnace.
Copyright 2014, 2015
I’m late, the book should have been on Amazon yesterday, and for that I sincerely apologize. My hope is that the love story between Imani and Hui will be live on Amazon.com later today. I thank all the readers who want to buy the book for your patience.
It’s that time of year again. Download December, where you can pick up free extended excerpts of previous and upcoming releases and also 99 cent ebooks. This is my second year holding this event, hence the “2” part.
Download December will officially start on Saturday, December 5th, and these books kick off the sale:
Free Sneak peeks*: The Stone Boy/Furies, The Player, RUSH
*A sneak peek is a promotional excerpt
At Last – 99 cents for December
**The Free SneakPeeks promo ended on Monday, December 7th**
HUI will be released in December.
I hope they include Celia Cruz. I was so happy to see José Feliciano’s segment. Many people know Feliciano’s hit Feliz Navidad, but his rendition of the star spangled banner was groundbreaking, and years before Marvin Gaye’s souful version.
Yes! they just showed vintage Celia!! Cuban born Celia Cruz is a Salsa legend. I hope someone does a big screen bio on her.
This is an excellent documentary. It was good to see footage of artists I still enjoy listening to.
I’ve got a few ebooks that I’ve kept under the radar, since I love creating unique story lines. So if you enjoy reading books featuring diverse characters who navigate through challenging life stories, then you may want to check them out.
The next romantic release from Wikkid.Sexy.Cool books highlights that age old debate. Can love co-exist with a burning drive to succeed?
This is why I enjoy digital editing, because I can manipulate stock photos to create covers and promos that feature minorities.
“Oh, Imani, you’ve got company,” Julio sang, just before knocking on her bedroom door and getting the okay to enter.
Imani was on the verge of asking “Who is it?” when a familiar face peeked over Julio’s shoulder. Hui thanked Julio, who was bold enough to turn around and tell him, “Hey now, I told you to wait in the front room-”
“Thank you, thank you,” Hui kept saying, but Julio wouldn’t budge. Whenever Hui tried stepping around him, Julio blocked his way.
“Julio, it’s okay,” she finally said.
“Well alright then. Y’all have a good time.” He backed out of the room, closing the door slowly while giving Imani a comical face. “Adios.”
Once they were alone Imani acted as if it was totally normal that she was covered from forehead to chin with a frothy green beauty mask. “It’s an avocado peel. S’posed to clear my pores,” she told him. “It’s not really dry yet.”
Back in mid-September (of 2015), I mentioned on Dear Author how Carina Press lacked a multicultural or IR category. I got a response and a request to send an email to Angela James. I followed up with an email as requested, on September 16th.
I kept it short and to the point:
Hello Ms. James,
I wish I had better news to report, but as of the date of this post, Carina still lacks a category for either IR, multicultural or diverse characters.
Here’s a screen shot as of November 26th:
Why is this important? Well, for readers who enjoy romances featuring Angels and Demons (a niche category that’s listed on the site) they can readily find them, or male/male or female/female, djinn, BDSM, Minage, Shifters, Dragon, Vampires and Ghosts . . .
Quite simply, making it easier for a reader to find books with diverse leads benefits not just the reader, but also the publisher. Buyers can’t purchase these books if they don’t know the publisher carries them.
There’s an irony about all this that I hope won’t be lost. Imaginary creatures are front and center, but including a category or categories that reflect the world as we know it, somehow aren’t?
And in fairness, Carina Press isn’t the only publisher without a category or designation for diverse reads readily visible.
Here’s my hope, that publishers will start routinely including categories for readers who enjoy romance between people of different races and people with disabilities.
I’m a reader first and foremost. I also support authors who write for major publishers as well as indies. Yes, change takes time. As someone who has contributed labor for a web site redesign (for a large company), I recognize this. So, I’ll just stay patient.
UPDATE: No change as of 6/27/16.
Torii and Ethan are getting a sequel. I’m doing more research, and I’ve got a solid story line for their next ebook.
The next ebook release is HUI
If this is your first time visiting this site, I hope you’ll take the time to look around. I write for an underserved population. That is to say, my books feature leads of color (or co-leads who are minority). Most of my in house created book covers and promos reflect my writing platform, which is multicultural in scope.
While I write primarily in the IR or interracial romance genre, my manuscripts also include scifi, historical romance, NA, YA and non-fiction.
Thank you for stopping by!
