Bisexual, Bipartisan and Black
Divided by politics . . . united by love.
The relationship between Congressman Brandon Jefferson Wingate and activist Kenya Paul, is, for lack of a better word, complicated. They’re two people from different worlds with clashing ideologies. Even the things they do have in common, like being the children of wealthy parents is cause for debate. **I had to change a few things about the story, since Hillary didn’t win đ Sorry for the delay.**
Excerpt:
âHey, how are you?â Brandonâs voice was friendly and upbeat.
Kenyaâs reply was cold. âWhat do you want?â
âI-I thought we could get together.â
âNo.â
âI miss you. I-â
Kenya hung up, turning her phone off in case he called back. As she walked up the stairway to get to her dorm room, girlish laughter and wall thuds greeted her ears. Mo and two other girls were coming down the hall, heading her way. Kenya put a practiced smile on her face. One girl draped a possessive arm over Mo’s shoulders before they all met.
Kenya spoke first. âHey Mo.â Since she didnât know the names of the other girls, she just said, âHey.â

It’s Not Over Until Its Over
She’s the girl that got away, and newly elected House of Representatives member Brandon Wingate is intent on winning her back.
Excerpt:
Brandon darted through traffic, trying to catch up to the girl who reminded him so much of Kenya. Same build, same deep brown skin color excerpt her hair was straight, in some sort of shoulder length style that flipped under. And her outfit was plain. Nothing close to the colorful sweaters and sneakers Kenya loved to wear in college. By the time he caught up to the woman sheâd dashed into a restaurant that had a line snaking around several tables. He stood directly behind her, wondering how heâd approach this. What if she wasnât Kenya? This could be awkward, saying that she reminded him of someone else. He needed something besides visual conformation. He needed voice recognition. He needed-
Thankfully her phone rang and just about everyone in the place looked down at their own.
Lifting her phone out of the small purse slung diagonally over her suit jacket, one shapely leg cocked back while the other rocked up and down on the heel of her shoe. He couldnât help watching her calf flex each time it raised and lowered.
With a ho-hum sigh she addressed the person on the other end of the line. âI just got here. Um hmm. Consider it done.â
As Kenya slid her phone back in her purse, Brandon made his move. âKenya? Kenya Paul?â
She turned around to find him with a smile so wide, it was like heâd won the lottery. âBrandon? Oh wow, this is a surprise.â
